MUSIC AWARDS RECIPIENTS

Band Director's Award

The Band Director's Award honors outstanding members of the high school band. It is awarded to a student who demonstrates exemplary dedication and leadership in the band ensemble.

Louis Armstrong Award

The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award® was inaugurated in 1974 with the consent of his widow shortly after this great jazz artist died in 1971. It honors an outstanding jazz musician at each high school.

John Philip Sousa Award

Introduced in 1955, the John Philip Sousa Band Award® recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication. It was created with the approval of Helen Sousa Albert and Priscilla Sousa, daughters of the famous composer and bandmaster.

Choir Director's Award

The Choir Director's Award honors outstanding members of the high school choir. It is awarded to a student who demonstrates exemplary dedication and leadership in the choral ensemble.

National School Choral Award

The National School Choral Award® recognizes outstanding dedication and superior musicianship in the choral ensemble.

Good Neighbor Award

Inspired by the legacy of Fred Rogers, this award recognizes outstanding leadership in fostering an inclusive community within the music ensembles and setting the example of a welcoming neighbor.

Leonard Bernstein Award

The Leonard Bernstein Award® honors outstanding students for their creativity and musicianship. In his long career, Bernstein made an indelible mark on the musical world as a conductor, composer, and teacher. This award honors students whose musical contributions, dedication, and creativity set them apart as deserving of the highest recognition for their achievements.
This award recognizes high achievement by a student in both band and choir.

Quincy Jones Award

The Quincy Jones Musicianship Award® honors outstanding students for their creativity and musicianship. In his long musical career, Quincy Jones has done it all as a composer, arranger, performer, producer, and teacher. Every music program has those students who share this boundless energy and musical versatility. With his approval, this award is initiated to encourage students in their pursuit of music.
This award recognizes high achievement by a student in multiple non-ensemble classes.
